From February through April of this year, I ran an extensive survey to better understand the realities of heart valve surgery for patients and their caregivers.

Some of the questions posed to the 78 former, heart valve surgery patients were about their cardiothoracic surgeons. The responses to all of these questions were very interesting and are now published in the revised edition of [1] The Patient’s Guide To Heart Valve Surgery.

As I reviewed the survey results, a few select heart surgeons received high marks and comments from their heart valve surgery patients. One of those “top cardiothoracic surgeons” was Dr. Gosta Pettersson, MD from Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Gosta Pettersson practices at The Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Gosta Pettersson, MD has a very interesting background. Dr. Pettersson’s specialties are adult cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery and general thoracic surgery.
