From February through April of this year, I ran an extensive survey to better understand the realities of heart valve surgery for patients and their caregivers.

Some of the questions posed to the 78 former, heart valve surgery patients were about their cardiothoracic surgeons. The responses to these questions were very interesting.

As I reviewed the survey results, a few select heart surgeons received high marks and comments from their heart valve surgery patients. One of those top cardiothoracic surgeons was Dr. Chiwon Hahn, MD from Richmond, Virgina.

Like most of the heart surgeon names that were discussed in this heart valve surgery survey, Dr. Chiwon Hahn, MD has a very interesting background. Dr. Hahn’s specialty is adult cardiac surgery and general thoracic surgery.

Dr. Chiwon Hahn has solid background having spent time at many leading academic centers including:

• Columbia University College of Physician and Surgeons
• Massachusetts General Hospital
• Harvard Medical School

The heart surgeon, Dr. Chiwon Hahn, was a resident and chief resident at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1994 through 1999.
