Dr. Harry Depan – Heart Surgeon, Ellis Hospital, New York
August 23rd, 2007Hi there,
From February through April of 2007, I ran an extensive survey to better understand the realities of heart valve surgery for patients and their caregivers. Some of the questions posed to the 78 former, heart valve surgery patients were about their surgeons. The responses to these questions were very interesting.

As I reviewed the survey results, a few select surgeons received high marks and comments from their patients. One of those top cardiothoracic surgeons was Dr. Harry Depan from Ellis Hospital in New York.
Dr. Harry DePan is Chief of Thoracic and Cardiac Surgery at Ellis Hospital and has been a surgeon at Ellis since 1991. Harry DePan also practices in Schenectady and Albany, New York.
Harry DePan, MD earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Washington & Lee University, Lexington, Virginia. Dr. Harry DePan completed his internship and residency at New York University Bellevue Medical Center in New York City.
Heart surgeon, Harry DePan, is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, and holds memberships in numerous medical societies, including the New York Academy of Science, the New York Society of Thoracic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, The Upstate Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the Cardiac Society of Upstate New York.
Additionally, Dr. DePan has authored numerous medical publications and holds an appointment at Albany Medical College as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery.
