Dr. Kevin Accola, Heart Surgeon, Orlando, Florida, CardiothoracicTop Cardiothoracic Surgeons - Kevin Accola, MD

Hi there,

From February through April of this year, I ran an extensive survey to better understand the realities of heart valve surgery for patients and their caregivers.

Some of the questions posed to the 78 former, heart valve surgery patients were about their surgeons. The responses to these questions were very interesting.

As I reviewed the survey results, a few select surgeons received high marks and comments from their patients. One of those top cardiothoracic surgeons was Kevin Accola from Orlando, Florida.

Kevin Accola’s key interests are adult cardiac surger and general thoracic surgery. As for Dr. Accola’s background here are some key things to know:

  • Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Il.
  • University of Illinois School of Medicine, Chicago, Il
  • General Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston,TX
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA

If you are interested to know more about Kevin Accola, here is his contact information:

How many heart catheterizations does Dr. Accola perform annually? Is this information available on the internet?

  2. Adam Pick Says:

    Hi Barbara,

Sorry, I don’t have the data you are looking for. (FYI, most catheterizations are performed by cardiologists not the surgeons.) If you are thinking about selecting Dr. Accola as your heart surgeon, you may want to contact his office.

My husband had to have heart valve surgery last year. He was understandably very nervous about the surgery but the moment he met Dr. Accola, he immediately felt at ease. Dr. Accola is hands down the best heart surgeon in Orlando, He spent over 30 minutes with us explaining all of our options and ended our visit with “don’t worry, this is what I do.” Those simple words was all it took for my husband to know he really was in the best hands possible. Half way through the surgery, Dr. Accola came out, sat down next to me and told me exactly what was happening and reassured me that everything was going great. This man is a god send!

I am a 38 year old male. Have had diabities since I was 11. I had a heart attack while working for a week up in Georgia. They kept me in the hospital for 11 days with experts form Emory University to tell me I could not have by pass surgery and needed a transplant. I came back home, saw Dr. Chin Kim at the Florida Heart Group, he was great, sent me to see Dr Accola. What a wonderful man he is. Very pleasent and friendly. He made my family and myself feel so much better. He said he saw a 99% success rate on doing a triple by pass surgery. Well needless to say I had the surgery about a month ago and feel great. Still some healing to do which is to be expected. All teh nurses even praised the work he does. He has the hands of GOD.

Dr. Accola will be performing my husband’s AVR the first week of Oct. He was very, very pleasant and friendly. He gave us our options, reassured us that my husband would be fine-yes, he said “That is what I do!”. He made us feel 100% better about the situation. Yes, we are scared, but we are in good hands!! Will let you all know how it goes!
