More On Beta Blockers Following Aortic Valve Replacement
On the continuing commentary of “To Use Or Not Use Beta Blockers Following Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery Including the Ross Procedure”, Dr. Paul Stelzer of Beth Isreal in New York comments:
“I use beta blockers in most patients for a while after surgery, but in some cases, the blood pressure is just too low. My obective is to keep the blood pressure resting level around 100-110 for the first three months and if you cant do that without medication, that’s fine with me.”
I guess this explains why perhaps Dr. Vauhgn Starnes of USC in Los Angeles did not put me on Beta Blockers following my Ross Procedure (aortic valve replacement). My blood pressure, one year after heart valve surgery, remains quite low.
Mystery solved?
